10. Indian Ocean Earthquake/Tsunami
The Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami occurred on December 26, 2004 and was thought to have the energy of 23,000 Hiroshima bombs. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sumatra and was rated a magnitude of 9.0. It was considered the largest earthquake at the time in over 40 years and created multiple tsunamis that crashed into over 11 countries causing millions of dollars worth of damage and taking many lives.
